Taylorsville is a town in Utah’s Salt Lake County. It is a part of the metropolitan region of Salt Lake City. At the time of the 2020 census, the population was 60,448. Interstate 215 and the Bangerter Highway run through the city. It is situated in the Salt Lake Valley’s heart.
The historic communities of Bennion, Taylorsville, and Kearns formed the foundation of Taylorsville. In 1996, they were incorporated as the city of Taylorsville. The area’s first settlers were the Ute Indians. In November 1848, the first Mormon pioneer settlers arrived. In fact, the city was named after John Taylor, the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1910, the Bingham-Garfield Railroad and the Rio Grande Western Railroad arrived in the area for the first time. Taylorsville’s first water system was built in 1915.
Taylorsville was incorporated on July 1, 1996, as a result of citizens’ grassroots efforts to develop a vision that would give them more local control over community planning, economic development, and municipal service delivery. More than two decades later, the city is still building on that foundation while keeping a keen eye on the future.
The Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Old Deseret Village, Wheeler Historic Farm, and Salt Lake Art Center are all within easy driving distance of Taylorsville. For history aficionados, Fort Douglas and Beehive House are also worth a visit. Golfers will enjoy the Meadow Brook Golf Course’s great facilities. Meadowbrook Plaza Shopping Center, Plaza 5400 Shopping Center, and Carriage Square Shopping Center are all good places to shop. Some of the major tourist attractions are the Raging Waters, Utah’s Hogle Zoo, and East Canyon State Park.
Taylorsville has a great quality of life with several cultural and recreational activities available within the city or nearby. The city takes pride in its status as a well-kept residential and commercial neighborhood. The Wasatch Mountains to the east and the Oquirrh Mountains to the west create a spectacular visual background for Taylorsville. It also has a river running through it; the Jordan River, with its cycling and walking trails and gorgeous natural habitat, is unquestionably one of the city’s greatest jewels.
The Jordan River corridor’s natural features, as well as the open spaces and parks that dot the area, are highly valued by Taylorsville residents. The popular Taylorsville Dayzz, the city’s annual summer festival that brings thousands of people each year for carnival rides, a parade, entertainment, and fireworks, is held at Valley Regional Park. Taylorsville, a lively suburb of Utah’s capital, has a mix of houses, businesses, and areas that are booming with business.
In order to achieve this, the city has released a “20/20 Vision” for the year 2020 and beyond. This vision focuses on the city’s new commercial and economic growth, as well as development prospects and projects on the horizon. Good development locations, transportation, and land use are all part of the plan. It also includes efforts to bring businesses and homes to the city.
